Sussex Athletics Cross Country

Each year we take part in the series of cross country races organised by Sussex Athletics. The season starts with a relay event for the Sussex Cross Country Relay Championships. Then there are 4 league races where we can accrue points for the club. There are also  the Sussex Cross Country Championships and the Sussex Masters Cross Country Championships. The races cover the whole range of ages and we enter various teams in each event. The courses are very similar to the WSFRL races and are generally around 8k in length, with the ladies running slightly less distance. Cost per race is c£6.00 and you enter individually through the Sussex Athletics website. Click here for more information. They are very social events and you will find lots of support from other club runners. Paul Luttman is our representative for these races so, look out for his announcements on the Spond group and in emails.

On Saturday 18th January the Sussex Masters XC Championships take place at Coombes Farm near Lancing.

Here are the start times and course distances:

1.00pm - V50 Men and over - 8K 1.40pm - V35 Women and over - 8K 2.25pm - V35 to 49 Men - 8K

The venue is at the foot of the South Downs and is a classic downlands course. Runners of all abilities are welcome. However, the requirements for this championship race are: A S&S top; An UKA number; A Sussex qualification (either born in Sussex or 9-month continuous residence in the county prior to race).

You enter this race personally, in advance online via https://race-nation.co.uk/register/sussex-athletics. The entry fee is £10 and entries will close at midday on Thursday January 16th.

If you intend to enter this race, please indicate your intent on Spond and I will use that platform to communicate any final details and to enable you to make any travel arrangements.
